Equinox Eve: Sunset Soundbath & Chai Ceremony
Facilitated by Sahar Farooqui Khundmiri
Friday, September 19 at 7-9pm
Step into the threshold of autumn with an evening designed to honor balance, release, and renewal. As the equinox approaches, we’ll gather in community to celebrate the shift of the seasons through ritual, tea, and sound.
✨ Fall Altar Ritual
We begin by setting intentions at a beautiful altar, welcoming the coming of fall and the balance between light and dark. An esphand cleansing ritual will help release stagnant energy and clear the path ahead.
☕️ Chai Ceremony
Together we’ll ground into presence with a warming rose, saffron, and cardamom chai, crafted to open the senses and root us in seasonal abundance.
🌅 Sunset Soundbath
As daylight fades, Sahar will guide you through an immersive sound journey with sitar, voice, crystal bowls, gong, and more, carrying you gently into the evening as the sky darkens and the season turns.
🪕 About Sahar
Sahar Farooqui Khundmiri is a Los Angeles-based sound artist and sitarist whose work bridges Hindustani classical music, Sufi mysticism, and vibrational healing. Rooted in her South Asian, Middle Eastern, and Muslim heritage, she creates immersive soundscapes that evoke a safar, or spiritual journey through sound.
Trained in sitar, raga, and voice under maestro Rajib Karmakar, Sahar blends classical technique with crystal bowls, gong, chimes, and devotional elements like zikr and Sufi poetry. With a Master’s in Religious Studies, her practice draws from the intersections of Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism to create spaces of reflection and rest.
Her offerings range from public soundbaths to site-specific installations, where sound becomes both sacred ritual and living art. You can follow along on her journey through her Instagram @soundsbysahar and her website www.saharsound.com.
